Example 1: Born on 15 May 2000. What is the age as on 29 September 2026?
- Complete years: 26 (15 May 2026)
- Complete months after that: 4 (15 Sep 2026)
- Remaining days: 14

Example 2: An exam requires candidates to be 18–27 years old as on 1 August 2026. Is a candidate born on 10 September 1998 eligible?
- Age as on 01-08-2026 = 27 years, 10 months, 22 days
- That is above 27 years (without relaxation)

Checking age limits for government jobs
Recruitment notifications from SSC, UPSC, IBPS, RRB and state commissions always state the age limit "as on" a fixed cut-off date, not as on the date you apply. Enter that cut-off date in the "Age as on" field to check your eligibility exactly.
Reserved categories usually receive upper age relaxation — commonly 3 years for OBC (non-creamy layer), 5 years for SC/ST and 10 years or more for PwBD candidates — but always confirm the exact rules in the official notification.
How the calculation works
The calculator counts complete years first, then complete months, then the remaining days — the same way you would on a calendar. For a birthday on 29 February, the birthday in non-leap years is taken as 28 February. All dates are handled in UTC, so the result does not change with your time zone.
